Turn any GIF into an iPhone Live Photo or wallpaper using Apple's built-in workflow — no shady apps, no uploads.
Live Photos are Apple's paired HEIC image + MOV video container, and iOS only lets Apple's own apps write that pair. Any website claiming one-click GIF→Live Photo conversion is either shipping an app that re-saves through Apple's APIs or misleading you. Here's the clean route that actually works.
Prepare your GIF first: resize it with our GIF Resizer (512px is ideal for wallpapers) and compress with GIF Compressor. Then on iPhone: open the Shortcuts app, create a shortcut with 'Make Live Photo' (or install Apple's official 'Convert GIF to Live Photo' shortcut from the gallery), feed it your GIF, and save. The result lands in Photos as a real Live Photo you can set as wallpaper with a long-press.
Live Photo wallpapers animate on lock screen; oversized GIFs make the shortcut conversion slow and can fail silently on older iPhones. 512–720px wide, under 3MB, is the sweet spot. Both prep steps run in your browser here — nothing is uploaded to anyone.
